TextFormations was founded in 2015 by two women scholars—Dr. Amyrose McCue Gill and Dr. Lisa Regan, both Berkeley PhDs—to provide wraparound services in academic and academic-adjacent publishing. We offer expert project management and editorial support to organizations small and large in two primary capacities:
- We manage print and digital publishing projects that are unusually complicated or particular. If your organization is undertaking a multilanguage, multiauthor, multipart, long-term, and/or high word-count publishing project, we can provide tailored support.
- We work with research institutes, academic journals, presses, museums, galleries, nonprofits, and enterprises to build, streamline, and manage all aspects of their publication and communication programs.

Project Management
TF provides comprehensive support for one-off and ongoing publishing projects and programs. We help plan realistic scopes and deliverables; design and manage appropriate timelines; communicate clearly and with sensitivity across diverse stakeholders; monitor progress; and evaluate results.
Bespoke Teams
Lisa and Amyrose have extensive professional experience working with organizations in humanities, education, visual arts, music, and social sciences fields. When clients need additional specialist expertise, we build bespoke teams (e.g., language and subject experts; writing, editing, and production professionals) that work collaboratively at the highest level.
Expert Consultation
For organizations seeking practical advice on improving publications processes, streamlining publishing and communications pipelines, and implementing editorial oversight, we offer single sessions as well as full-service, ongoing support. As consultants, we facilitate cost-effective decision-making about how to handle complicated publishing projects and/or programs.
Editorial Support
We offer a comprehensive set of editing and translation services, including content editing (for structure and argument), line editing (for style and flow), and copy editing (for accuracy and consistency) as well as proofreading (for final layout and error correction). We work across multiple languages (English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Latin) and connect with other language experts for multilingual projects.
Production Facilitation
We work with publications from the moment of ideation through final copy, whether printed or posted. If your organization needs help turning final drafts into polished products, we can facilitate everything from finalizing references, figures, and images to graphic design, printing, and online dissemination.

Lisa Regan and Amyrose McCue Gill hold Berkeley PhDs in the humanities. We have been colleagues as scholars, editors, and now company directors since 2001. Our partnership, TextFormations, offers support to entities with unique and ongoing publishing projects and programs in academic and academy-adjacent fields, including the humanities and the arts; music and performance; the social sciences and education.
